How To Heal Yourself with CFQ
CFQ is about healing. All disease has its origin in blockage and CFQ training allows us to clear blockages.
As well as resolving blockages that can lead to physical disease, CFQ can provide a way of exploring and sorting out one's life. Many things can trouble us. Even living continually in a state of unresolved questioning can in itself generate a form of blockage.
The process of healing is to make oneself happy inside and outside. Being able to live directly, without doubts, is the source of happiness.
Qigong movements (Level One) teach us to relax until we feel comfortable, free, without boundaries—like the thin air. They are a technique by which we can develop resilience, fearlessness, peace and joy, and overcome adversities including disease problems. In quiescent qigong, or meditation (Level Two), we learn to work directly at releasing debased energy, the karmic burden that obscures and impedes the body-mind's own self-healing. We learn that peace is the result of freeing the mind of thoughts and emotions.
CFQ is complementary to medical treatment.
Principles of CFQ Healing
Mind-Body Reconnection
Thoughts alienate the mind from the body. The state of suspended consciousness that results is stressful and results in disharmony, the source of disease. Healing and health require us to liberate the mind from thoughts and reintegrate it harmoniously within the body.
Qi Flow
Health can be defined as the mind spread evenly throughout the body. The harmonious flow of mind through the body cleanses and regenerates cells, tissues, organs and biological systems. Physiological functions are regulated. This presence of the mind in the body is experienced as smooth qi flow and a state of harmony and peace.
Downward Flushing of Disease Energy
Effective healing comes from a mind set of letting go and non-doing (wu wei). The flow of qi cleanses the body of stale energy forces that are the basic blockages causing disease. Breaking down, dissolving and flushing out these blockages eliminates problems in the mind and body.
How to Make Use of CFQ Movements for Your Healing
A good way to begin your daily CFQ practice is to do Abdominal Soon Breathing and three sets of Hexagram movements.
Any of the first five movements in the Hexagram can be repeated at will to promote healing of specific conditions. Work with the first three Hexagram movements before moving on to Movements 4 and 5 in order to smooth out the qi flow. In general, however, choose the movement that will make you happy. You are your own physician.
Multiple repetitions of some of the Complementary Movements can be used in the same way, for instance, Turning Qi, Grounding Qi, Butterfly Wings, My Happy Body, Stepping on the Spot.
A suggested minimal healing regimen might be to practice any of these movements 45 minutes twice a day for at least two months. Begin your daily practice with Abdominal Soon Breathing and three sets of Hexagram movements.
See Practice Aids for Level One for timings for multiple repetitions.
Things to Keep in Mind When Practicing CFQ Movements for Healing
- Avoid excessive thinking or mental work
- Avoid excessive eating
- Avoid idle thinking or self-pity
- Be positive—feel good about yourself and your healing
- Be willing to let go of your habits of thought, patterns that keep you entrapped
- Avoid visualization or intention while practicing CFQ—even the intention to be healed
- Participate willingly in your healing and the practice of the movements
- Shift the attention to the body—become more physically active
- Do not grasp or follow thoughts—just do the movements
- Be aware of your whole body from moment to moment—be in the moment
- Accept whatever discomfort might arise in the healing process. Do not try to protect, shield, or steal yourself against the feared possible effects. Be aware that disease forces are clearing out and allow this to happen.
- Enjoy yourself—CFQ feels good, it wakes up the body and lifts your spirits
