Qigong and Meditation Instructor image

  • Jack trained in Chaoyi Fanhuan Qigong under Master Yap Soon Yeong for almost fifteen years beginning in 2000.
  • Although Jack is no longer affiliated with Master Yap, he continues to offer instruction in CFQ and meditation at various times through the year and to provide healing on an appointment basis.
  • He has taught qigong since 2004 in several centres across Canada. Hundreds of individuals have learned qigong from Jack.
  • In 2009 Jack extended the support he offers his students by offering formal instruction in meditation.
  • In 2010 he established a qigong healing practice.

Public Activities

  • For seven years Jack conducted weekly Qigong clinics at Klinic Community Health Centre in Winnipeg. On average a dozen people a week would find relief from anxiety, pain, troubling thoughts, addictions, chronic diseases or other sources of discomfort.
  • For three years Jack held weekly Qigong clinics at Mount Carmel Community Health Centre in Winnipeg, in association with the North Point Douglas Women's Centre.
  • For three years Jack spent two hours per week working with inmates at Headingley Correctional Facility, Manitoba as part of the program of the Winding River Therapeutic Community.

Jack is currently working on a third edition of his book on meditation. It lays out clear instructions for how to meditate effectively. It also offers explanations of the underlying principles and an introduction to some of the rich traditions surrounding meditation.

Chan Meditation

Along with qigong Jack maintains an active practice of Chan meditation. He recently attended a ten-day silent Chan retreat at Dharma Drum Retreat Centre in Pine Bush, NY. In the 1990s he took Zen training at the Rochester Zen Centre.

 

Background

Work

  • Jack is a Priest in the Anglican Church of Canada. Ordained in 1979, he took early retirement in 2011 to pursue his interest in qigong and meditation.
  • He worked for ten years in parishes in Saskatchewan.
  • After a return to school he served in ministry development in the Diocese of New Westminster for two years.
  • He spent eight productive years as Coordinator of Program in the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
  • He moved to Winnipeg in 2006 to take a position with the Diocese of Rupert's Land for three years
  • Since then he has been involved in parish ministry on a part-time basis in Manitoba and Nova Scotia.
  • In 2016 Jack and Chris relocated to Kentville, NS.

Practicing CFQ gives me a quiet time each day to get in touch with myself— the delicate inner self and spirit. In the few months that I have practiced CFQ, I have experienced an awakening of new knowledge about my body and myself.
