What Happens at Each Level
Level One: Dynamic Qigong Movements
These include the seven-movement Hexagram which is a set taking about thirteen minutes to perform. Several Complementary Movements and Lotus Walk are also taught. These can be performed on their own for as long as one wishes. As well, one learns a simple form of self-massage. Level One includes instruction in the principles of CFQ and how they form the basis for ongoing practice, healing and training.
The movements instill profound relaxation, calm the mind, clear disease-causing blockages and prepare a person for fruitful meditation. Spontaneous movements — swaying, shaking, jerking, vocalizations etc. — commonly occur and are indicative of healing releases. Significant physical and emotional healing can occur when a person engages in disciplined practice of the movements.
Level Two: Meditation
Four postures of meditation are taught: sitting, standing, walking and reclining. As well, the Level One movements can be used for meditation. In CFQ meditation one learns body-centred presence. Presence permits a person to let go deeply. Letting go, in turn, activates various forms of karmic release.
The CFQ approach is highly effective in achieving a shift from the thinking mind to physicality thus circumventing the karma creation process. Meditation produces profound healing, changes in outlook and attitude, improvement in life circumstances and relationships, quieting of emotional reactivity, increase in mental alertness and responsiveness. Most importantly, meditation begins to dissolve the self-other split and open up universal consciousness.
Level Three: Introduction to Healing Techniques
In these workshops Master Yap has been training people to understand the healer's role in CFQ healing. The training builds on the principles of CFQ healing, on the skills previously learned and, most importantly, on the personal changes that have been brought about by the practice of Level One and Level Two.
Participants learn to open the mind in a boundariless union with the patient, to embrace the patient's karma in their own radiance, and to dissolve this karma. The patient's body is de-traumatized and the clearing off process is initiated.
Levels Four to Six: Meditation
Master Yap's remarkably democratic approach is apparent in his bold sharing of information that has previously been treated as esoteric and secret. The process of karmic formation is taught in detail. The possibility of paranormal abilities (spiritual gifts) is reviewed openly. Chakras and other light phenomena are discussed.
This profound teaching forms the backdrop for ever-deepening training and meditative practice. The use of mantra and variations of the postures are taught. The Central Channel and Container of Life are engaged. Suchness and Emptiness are entered into.
Should You Repeat Levels?
It is recommended that a person re-take training in any of the levels.
The two-day trainings will equip you with a full introduction to CFQ, enough for you to carry on your practice successfully. However, CFQ is not "content" that can be intellectually evaluated and assimilated on the basis of an initial two days' training. It is a set of practices that change you in fundamental ways over time. As the changes have an opportunity to work through your system you will be able to appreciate more fully and take greater advantage of the teachings. You will understand them on a deeper level and be able to take your practice to deeper levels.
CFQ is a path, not a destination.
Instructor Certification
Level One Instructor Certification
When CFQers are diligent in their practice it is not unusual for them to want to share the benefits. One practical way to do this is become an instructor. Here are the criteria for Level One certification:
- You will need to practice Level One in a regular and committed way for at least three years.
- You will need to take Level Two training and establish a regular meditation practice.
- You will need to repeat either Level One or Level Two training (total, three trainings).
- You will need to be tested and approved by a two-member certification panel of the CFQ Healing Qigong Society of Atlantic Canada.
- Upon recommendation by this panel you will need to submit a biographical sketch, two photos of yourself and pay a fee of $500.00 to Master Yap through the Society.
More details are available at the Society's web site but note that the criteria have changed.
Level Two Instructor Certification
Anyone wishing to become certified as a Level Two Instructors must be an active participant in the CFQ online Forum before they will be considered. Participation in the Forum demonstrates interest as a member of the CFQ community. Sharing of experiences gives evidence to your regular practice, generosity and willingness to help others to improve. Responding to postings demonstrates your insight and understanding. Instructors who are active in the Forum also become known to others who will naturally choose or recommend them to teach or conduct CFQ courses. Due consideration in waiving the requirement for Forum participation will be given to those with a language barrier.
Other requirements:
- You will have practiced CFQ for a minimum of five years since your first Level One training.
- You will have been certified as Level One Instructors for a minimum for two years.
- You will be known to be consistent and diligent with their practice.
- You will have taught Level One CFQ in a workshop setting or individually.
- You will demonstrate a reasonable degree of understanding and proficiency in meditating on presence.
